Description
The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Olympic Weightlifting will qualify you to work independently and enable you to apply for a BWL Coach License to assist athletes at national competitions as their qualified coach.
Who is the course for?
- Coaches who currently hold the Level 1 qualification in Coaching Olympic Weightlifting and currently work under the supervision of a more qualified coach
- Learners who would like a practical aspect to their learning
What does the course cover?
- Designing effective programmes that support an athlete’s development
- How to support an athlete in optimising their lifting technique
- Key psychological skills that athletes need to develop performance
- Create linked and progressive sessions in a 6-week training block
- Design sessions that can meet the needs of groups and individuals
- Using the BWL Technical Model to identify technical errors and come up with effective interventions
- Specific assistance exercises to help athletes get the most from their training

The LIVE Zoom session will cover:
- LIVE time with an industry leading educator
- Interaction and discussion with other like-minded learners
- The Level 2 BWL Technical Model for The Snatch, The Clean and The Jerk – discussion with an industry leading educator and wider group of learners.
- Assistance exercises of the Olympic Lifts*
Assessment for this course is completed online. *And don't worry if you don't have a barbell at home, a broomstick or similar will be a suitable replacement for practice.
What does this course qualify me to do?
- Work as an independent coach in Olympic Weightlifting
- Apply for a BWL Coach License to assist athletes at national competitions
How long does it take to complete the course?
- The length of this course is 24 - 28 hours of e-learning plus, development tasks and assessment
- 3.5 - 4 hours virtual delivery via Zoom
Prerequisites
- Level 1 Coaching Olympic Weightlifting qualification
- Be at least 17 years of age on the first day of the course
- Be able to communicate effectively in English
