Who is the course for?
This course is ideal for learners who would like to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry and are looking for an entry level course to get started.
The Level 2 Certificate in Planning and Delivering Gym Based Exercise enables learners to become a gym instructor to teach and deliver gym based exercise including being able to plan, instruct and evaluate one-on-one gym programmes. The course can also be used as a starting point for a Personal Training qualification.
By completing this qualification you will be able to complete a British Weight Lifting CPD course; Fundaments of Teaching the Olympic Lifts; for FREE. The fundamentals of teaching the Olympic lifts focuses on an introduction to how coaches and athletes can teach and perform the basic elements of the Olympic lifts safely and effectively, to people of all ages and abilities.
Accredited by Focus Awards, our regulated awarding body, the Level 2 Certificate in Planning and Delivering Gym Based Exercise is also endorsed by CIMSPA.
What does the course cover
The Level 2 course will teach you everything required to start working as a gym instructor including:
- Anatomy and physiology for fitness
- How to deliver safe and effective gym sessions to clients
- Understand how to support client’s lifestyle management and enhance client motivation for exercise and physical activity
- Understanding the methods required to create a safe fitness environment and assessments for gym-based exercise sessions
- Instructing professional practice and effective exercise supervision in gym-based exercise sessions
To qualify for your Level 2 Gym Instructor certificate, you will be required to complete a selection of online assessments.
PLEASE NOTE: we currently do not offer the Level 2 Certificate with practical learning.
What does this course qualify me to do?
This course will qualify you to operate as a gym instructor and give you the pre-requisite qualification you need to complete your Personal Training qualification.
Level 3 PT -
Who is the course for?
The Level 3 Certificate in Planning and Delivering Personal Training has been created for fitness professionals looking for the next step in their career.
If you would like to progress to a Personal Trainer this course will develop your knowledge in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, postural and core stability, how to design and adapt personal training programmes plus more.
By completing the Level 3 Certificate with British Weight Lifting, the experts in strength training, you will be able to complete an additional CPD course for FREE; Essentials of Weightlifting Technique

Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Power
There are many benefits of training strength and power. People of all sport disciplines benefit from strength training to further develop their performance and fitness levels and power has a key role in any sport and any movement. The Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Strength will allow you to effectively coach to amplify your clients strength and power output which will set you above the competition.
What will I learn?
You will be introduced to the principles of Strength Training Theory and how to use them in your coaching, you will cover the anatomical demands of strength and power training and how to use this knowledge to develop effective training programmes that improve key physical attributes. You will learn about biomechanical concepts, nutrition to support muscle growth and plyometrics, which is a training method that uses explosive and powerful exercises to build muscle power. The course covers a wide range of exercises (20 in total) that work the entire body including the Olympic lifts. It will also develop your profiling, monitoring and programming skills. Plus, you will gain access to the exclusive BWL Technical Model, which is designed to help coaches identify technical errors which can result in more meaningful interventions that help an athlete to maximise their capabilities
