This CPD is enhanced learning to build on topics covered in the Level 2 and Level 3 Coaching Olympic Weightlifting courses. The Essentials of Youth Weightlifting has been developed in partnership with Rhodri Lloyd and Stephanie Morris from Cardiff Metropolitan University, who provide a wealth of expertise in paediatric strength and conditioning science and have a vast amount of experience working with young athletes in many different sports.

Our bodies were developed with the intention of having all our muscles work together and support each other to accomplish certain movements and tasks. Isolating certain muscle groups to add mass was not what our bodies were naturally made for.

Functional fitness is a classification of training that prepares the body for real-life movements and activities, by strengthening the muscles in the same way you would need to use them for certain tasks. Movements such as squatting, reaching, pulling and lifting are made easier with functional fitness integrated into an exercise routine.
